'GenChess' is a website that allows you to generate original chess pieces using Google's generative AI 'Gemini' and 'Imagen 3'
A website called 'GenChess' has been released that combines Google's chatbot 'Gemini' with the image generation model 'Imagen 3' to generate chess pieces with creative and unique designs, so I tried using it right away.

Turn your ideas into playable art pieces with GenChess. Create and play today → labs.google/genchess - YouTube
When you access GenChess , the following screen will appear, so click 'Get Started'.
The red frame below is a pull-down menu, and you can choose between 'classic' and 'creative'. 'Classic' generates chess pieces that are conscious of traditional designs, while 'creative' generates pieces with richer ideas. This time I chose 'creative'.
In addition, the part in the red frame below is an input field, and you can instruct the generation AI what kind of piece to generate by writing a word or phrase. I tried entering 'cat' and then clicking 'Generate'.
The resulting chess pieces were based on cats. The king was a male lion with a magnificent mane, and the queen was a gorgeous leopard. Although the designs were consistent across all feline animals, it was easy to tell which piece was which.
It is also possible to regenerate only certain pieces. Let's click on the rook that doesn't look like a cat.
Click “Regenerate”.
While making use of the tower-like motif of Luke, the design looks like a cat peeking out from the castle walls.
'Generate Opponent' allows you to generate opponent pieces.
Since the opponent is a cat, a dog-themed piece was automatically generated. You can also play against each other in 'Play chess'.
Set the difficulty to the default 'Easy' and click 'Begin game'.
I enjoyed playing chess using cat and dog pieces. If you like the design of the pieces, you can download the images of the pieces from the share button on the bottom right.
Click “Download png”.
You can download it. You can freely use the original custom chess set data generated using GenChess.
