El Capitan is a supercomputer jointly developed by AMD, the US Department of Energy, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), and is based on AMD's high performance computing (HPC) and AI chip ' Instinct MI300A '. Research and development of El Capitan is progressing with the aim of achieving processing performance of more than 2 exaflops, and in November 2024 it recorded 1.742 exaflops, making it the world's number one supercomputer.
The top 10 rankings are as follows, with AMD-made supercomputers taking five of the top 10 spots.
