Apps distributed through the App Store, Apple's official app store, are required to register information such as the app's name, summary, and category, as well as age restrictions for parental control purposes.

TikTok lists the age restriction as '12 and under,' citing 'rare or modest' sexual or vulgar content on the platform.

According to the lawsuit, Apple had privately warned users that the content on TikTok was more mature.

TikTok spokesman Alex Hawlek said it was irresponsible for the company to allow information that should have been removed to be public, but said the company had already addressed the issues raised and had strict policies against nudity, sexually explicit content and solicitations.
