'kv4p HT' is an amateur radio transceiver that can be used in combination with an Android smartphone, and can send and receive voice and text messages. kv4p HT is developed with all open source hardware and software, and can be built with a total of $ 35 (about 5300 yen) parts.

Below is the kv4p HT. The main unit is palm-sized and has a long antenna.
Attach it to the back of your Android smartphone and connect it with a USB cable. The kv4p HT does not have a built-in battery, and is powered by your smartphone. This means that there is no risk of fire even if you leave it in the glove box of your car.
You can also replace it with a shorter antenna.
The operation screen of the dedicated app looks like this. You can register your favorite frequencies.
It also supports wireless text messaging.
The firmware and board design of kv4p HT are publicly available, and you can assemble it by yourself by collecting parts such as wireless modules and microcontrollers. The necessary parts can be confirmed at the following link, and the total amount is 35 dollars (about 5300 yen).
