The 4th generation iPhone SE without the home button is expected to be released in 2025

Apple, which released the

iPhone 16 series in September 2024, is preparing to announce the fourth-generation model of its budget iPhone SE, reports Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, an economic newspaper with an extensive knowledge of Apple information.

The iPhone SE was first released in March 2016 as a device that continued to be small and lightweight in comparison to the increasingly larger iPhone series.

In March 2022, the third-generation iPhone SE was released, which was priced at less than half the price of the iPhone 13 Pro, which was the flagship device at the time, but had almost the same performance.

Everything about the fourth-generation iPhone SE is still just a rumor, but Apple plans to use OLED displays in all iPhones from 2025 onwards, and the iPhone SE, the only iPhone series to use an LCD display, is also expected to get an OLED display.

According to Gurman, the fourth-generation iPhone SE, codenamed 'V59,' is nearing production. It will be equipped with the same A18 chip as the iPhone 16 and will support Apple Intelligence. It will look like the iPhone 14, and its internals will be similar to the high-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 16. Unlike the iPhone 14, it will have a single rear camera.

The third-generation iPhone SE looked similar to the iPhone 8, the last model before the home button was abolished, but the fourth-generation iPhone SE will finally see the home button disappear.

Gurman also said that a new iPad Air model will be released in 2025. Since Apple only just announced the iPad Air (6th generation) with the M2 chip in May 2024, news site 9to5mac commented that this was 'a bit unexpected.' It is unclear whether the chip will be the M2 or something else, and Gurman said that 'internal improvements are being made.'
