I tried all four types of 'Special Cup Noodles' series, which reproduces the taste of matsutake mushrooms and sea urchins and is a feast for cup noodles

Nissin Foods released four types of ' Special Cup Noodles ' series, which offer a higher grade of soup and ingredients than 'Cup Noodles', on Monday, September 2, 2024. In addition to using truffles and ripe tomatoes, it also contains ingredients that reproduce the texture and flavor of high-end ingredients such as matsutake mushrooms and sea urchins, and although it is a cup noodle, it is already a 'feast'. I tried all four types to see what it tasted like.

The lineup of 'Special Cup Noodles' that was released on September 2nd consists of four varieties: ' Special Cup Noodles (Normal) ', ' Special Cup Noodles Curry ', ' Special Cup Noodles Seafood Noodles ', and ' Special Cup Noodles Chili Tomato Noodles '. All of them have luxurious packaging with a gold base.

First, try the normal 'Special Cup Noodles'.

Unlike regular Cup Noodles, the 'Tokujo Cup Noodles' have a small packet of special oil attached to the top of the lid. In the case of the regular 'Tokujo Cup Noodles,' this is 'special matsutake mushroom flavored oil.'

The ingredients include 'almost matsutake' that reproduces the texture and flavor of matsutake mushrooms. The true identity of 'almost matsutake' is seasoned king oyster mushrooms.

Looking at the names of the ingredients, the soup contains pork fat, powdered soy sauce, spices, fish meal, kelp powder, shiitake seasoning, pork seasoning, menma powder, etc. The toppings are seasoned minced pork, seasoned eggs, seasoned shrimp, seasoned eringi, and green onions.

Calories per serving: 352kcal.

When I opened the lid, it was filled with plenty of toppings.

Pour hot water up to the inner line and heat the oil sachet on the lid for 3 minutes.

After 3 minutes, add the special oil, mix well and it's done.

The soup has a refined taste with a hint of Japanese dashi stock, and you can really taste the flavor of matsutake mushrooms.

I tried the 'Almost Matsutake' which I was curious about, and found that the soup was well soaked in matsutake-flavored soup and had just the right amount of texture. The king oyster mushroom is similar in appearance and texture to matsutake, so it certainly gave me the feeling that I was eating matsutake.

The noodles have the familiar smooth texture of Cup Noodles, and the soup clings to them just right. The umami of the dashi and the flavor of the matsutake mushrooms combine to create a refined taste that is completely different from regular Cup Noodles.

Next is the 'Special Cup Noodle Curry.'

The oil used is 'special truffle and butter oil.'

The ingredients include a large ball of beef mystery meat, which is said to be the largest in the history of Cup Noodle Curry.

The soup contains lard, curry powder, onions, pork seasoning, onion powder, processed cheese, butter oil, carrots, tomato powder, natural cheese, and truffle seasoning. The toppings are seasoned minced beef, French fries, green onions, and carrots.

Calories per serving: 433kcal.

When you open the lid, you can see that it contains a large ball of beef mystery meat.

After pouring in the hot water, wait 3 minutes, then add the special oil, mix well, and it's done.

The soup was very creamy with a strong buttery flavor and a hint of truffle. It also had a spicy curry flavor, making for a rich soup.

The large ball of beef mystery meat is small enough to be easily picked up with chopsticks, and when you bite into it, the flavor and curry soup ooze out.

The thick noodles were thoroughly coated with the thick curry soup, allowing me to fully enjoy the rich flavor of the curry soup.

Next, I will try the 'Special Cup Noodle Seafood Noodle'.

The oil used is 'special sea urchin scented butter oil.'

The product contains 'Hobouni', a fish paste product that contains 8.5% sea urchin, which recreates the texture and taste of sea urchin.

Looking at the names of ingredients, the soup contains pork fat, pork seasoning, sea urchin seasoning, creaming powder, chicken seasoning, clam seasoning, red ginger, butter oil, fish sauce, etc. The toppings are fish paste products, cabbage, squid, and green onions.

Calories per serving: 387kcal.

Add hot water and wait 3 minutes.

After 3 minutes, add the special oil, mix well and it's done.

The soup has a well-balanced combination of the umami flavor of seafood and the richness of butter, making it delicious even on its own.

The 'almost sea urchin' filling had a texture similar to soft, swollen wheat gluten, and the taste of sea urchin was definitely strong.

The smooth noodles and seafood soup full of umami flavor go together perfectly.

Finally, I will try the 'Special Cup Noodle Chili Tomato Noodle'.

The oil is 'special hot chili flavored oil.'

A new ingredient will be 'rosemary mystery meat,' which is mystery meat with herbs kneaded into it.

Looking at the names of the ingredients, the soup contains tomato powder, lard, pork seasoning, vegetable seasoning, clam seasoning, onion powder, processed cheese, natural cheese, etc., and the toppings are seasoned chicken, cabbage, corn, processed tomatoes, and green beans.

Calories are 378kcal per serving.

Add hot water and wait 3 minutes.

After 3 minutes, add the special oil, mix well and it's done.

When I sipped the soup, I found that the hot chili was stronger than I expected, and it was not something people who don't like spicy food could eat. The moderate acidity of the tomatoes, the aroma of herbs, and the subtle aroma of cheese all combined to create a high-quality soup.

The rosemary mystery meat ingredient fills your mouth with the aroma of rosemary when you bite into it, and it goes perfectly with the Western-style soup.

The smooth noodles were well coated with the soup.
