'ILLUSTRATION meets FIGURATION' is a place where you can compare the appeal of transforming from two-dimensional to three-dimensional art.

We took a closer look at the ' ILLUSTRATION meets FIGURATION ' project at Smile Fest 2024 Osaka, which displays illustrations by creators side by side with figures created based on those illustrations, allowing visitors to closely compare the appeal of these illustrations being expanded into different dimensions, from two to

three dimensions.

'ILLUSTRATION meets FIGURATION' is located exactly at the halfway point of the U-shaped exhibition space.

The landmark is a huge illustration of Hatsune Miku by

Mai Yoneyama .

Below that was a giant Hatsune Miku figure based on the illustration.

They are not painted, but rather the lack of color gives them the appearance of being like Buddhist statues or sculptures.

Because it's so large, you can get a good look at Miku's hair and clothes flowing from the side.

'Hatsune Miku feat. Yoneyama Mai x Yoneyama Mai'. Yoneyama commented, 'This time, I imagined a goddess-like Miku, and tried to create a Mucha-style decorative frame and a soft fabric texture like the sculptures of Corradini and Bernini! The sculptor was able to express it beautifully. I hope you enjoy Miku, born from the fountain of music and art.'

The reason they give the impression of being like Buddha statues or sculptures is because they were made that way.

This figure embodies the desired 'goddess-like Miku.'

The soft feel of the fabric is beautifully expressed.

'ALICE-chan x

Toridamono '. Toridamono sometimes remakes his past drawings that he has made as a hobby, and ALICE-chan is one of them.

Dice motifs are used frequently in costumes and accessories.

Alice without her glasses. The release date and price of 'Alice' (sculptor: Akimofu) have yet to be decided.

Akiman '. This illustration is famous for being from the Momochihama Dispensing Pharmacy's medicine notebook, but it was not intended to be made into a figurine. The notebook only shows the upper body, so for the figurine, a new illustration was created with detailed details on the whole body.

Chun-Li shows a flawless stance.
