'Red Bull Energy Drink Summer Edition' Tasting Review: A refreshing drink with lime flavor that blows away the summer heat

As a limited flavor that Red Bull develops every season, the ' Red Bull Energy Drink Summer Edition ' has been released in limited quantities from Tuesday, July 2, 2024. This product is said to be developed uniquely for Japan using the same recipe as the 'Green Edition', which was released in limited quantities in 2021 and became popular, so I tried it again.

When I received a gift box from Red Bull, the box that arrived was, 'Gift box...? Maybe it was a cooler box?'

When you open the lid, you'll find the regular Red Bull and the Summer Edition, wrapped in lime and ice. Note that the lime and ice are just for decoration and are not real.

When you remove all the decorations, it becomes a cooler box that can hold about eight 250ml cans of Red Bull.

Comparing the ingredients of the regular Red Bull and the Summer Edition, the ingredients are the same up to 'sugars (sugar, glucose), acidulant, and carbon dioxide', but the regular version has sodium bicarbonate, while the Summer Edition has flavoring. There are other subtle differences in the ingredients as well. The calories are the same for both, 46 kcal per 100 ml, arginine is 120 mlg, and caffeine is 32 mg. The salt equivalent is 0.20 g for the regular version and 0.09 g for the Summer Edition.

When poured into a glass, the aroma and color are completely different.

The Summer Edition has a refreshing lime flavor that spreads the moment it enters your mouth, and you can gulp it down as a slightly sour and bitter carbonated drink. It was the perfect taste for a hot summer. Red Bull has a unique flavor that is typical of energy drinks, but the Summer Edition has no unique flavor at all, so I felt that it was a product that even people who don't like normal Red Bull could drink. The editorial staff who drank it commented that it was 'similar to Seven Up' and 'like Sprite.' However, as mentioned above, the caffeine and arginine content is exactly the same, and it is a solid energy drink, so be careful not to drink too much.

'Red Bull Energy Drink Summer Edition' is available in limited quantities from Tuesday, July 2, 2024, for 198 yen excluding tax. A set of 24 bottles was sold at Amazon.co.jp for 4,900 yen including tax. The price per bottle is 204 yen including tax.
