Picasso was born in Spain in 1881, spent most of his life in France, and died there in 1973. In 2023, the 50th anniversary of his death, several exhibitions related to Picasso will be held in France.

And in June 2024, the Picasso Museum in Paris opened an exhibition called 'Picasso: Consuming Images,' which displayed dozens of Picasso's best-known works, along with works by the masters who inspired him and the images and concepts he referenced.

For example, Picasso's 1962 painting 'The Abduction of the Sabines' was inspired by Nicolas Poussin's 1637 work of the same name.

The exhibition focused on four themes that Picasso repeatedly featured throughout his career: 'Hero,' 'Minotaur,' 'Voyeur,' and 'Musketeer.'

'Picasso grew up exploring the art in Paris museums, surrounded by new images and works,' said Cécile Godefroy, the museum's curator.

The online archive released this time is in conjunction with 'Picasso: Consuming Images.'

The archive contains approximately 19,000 photographs by Picasso that have rarely been made public until now, and approximately 200,000 pieces of text are scheduled to be digitized and uploaded in the future.
