The bill to restrict DJI drones has passed the U.S. House of Representatives, and if it also passes the Senate, DJI drones will be hit hard

The '

Countering CCP Drones Act' has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. If this bill passes the Senate and becomes law, it could make it difficult for China-based DJI to sell drones in the U.S.

The Countermeasures Against Chinese Communist Party Drones Act is a bill that aims to add DJI to the list of telecommunications equipment and services subject to the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 .

The Secure and Reliable Communications Networks Act of 2019 prohibits the use of certain federal subsidies for the purchase of communications equipment or services that the FCC determines pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States. Any equipment or services added to the list under this act are made public by the FCC, and each communications provider is required to submit an annual report to the FCC regarding whether it has purchased or acquired any equipment on the list, and if so, must provide a justification for such purchase or acquisition.

The Secure and Reliable Communications Networks Act of 2019 also establishes a grant program to provide funding to small communications providers with fewer than 2 million customers to replace equipment on the list with more secure versions.

If the Anti-Chinese Communist Party Drone Law is enacted, telecommunications providers may move to exclude DJI, which could lose access to frequency bands used for drone communications and control.

However, DJI reportedly controls more than 70% of the global drone market share, and could face backlash from consumers.

Naturally, DJI has opposed the bill and strongly denies the allegations against it, calling them inaccurate and unfounded.

Senator Jon Tester, who is pushing for the bill, also claims that 'cheap Chinese-made drones are flooding the American market and causing job losses,' which makes it clear that the bill is not just about security issues, but also about eliminating foreign products and protecting domestic jobs.
