'Peyoung Super Large Yakisoba Half & Half Squid' Tasting Review: Enjoy the usual sauce and rich squid ink sauce at the same time
Maruka Foods' popular Peyoung Yakisoba series will be releasing a new product, Peyoung Super Large Yakisoba Half & Half Squid Ink, on May 6, 2024, which allows you to enjoy both regular Peyoung Yakisoba and pitch-black squid ink sauce at the same time. I was very curious about what would happen if I seasoned it with pitch-black squid ink sauce even though it was a cup yakisoba, so I actually bought one and tried it.

The packaging for Peyoung Super Large Yakisoba Half & Half Squid Ink is based on a two-tone black and white color scheme.
Looking at the ingredients, you can see that it contains squid ink products and squid ink paste.
Calories are 1,065kcal per serving.
The packaging has been peeled off.
When I opened the lid, in addition to the noodles, there was the usual yakisoba sauce, squid ink sauce, toppings, sprinkles and spices.
Add the toppings, pour in hot water, and wait 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes, drain the water.
First, pour regular yakisoba sauce onto one side of the noodles. The color of the yakisoba sauce is light brown.
Next, pour the squid ink sauce into the other half. The squid ink sauce is more viscous than the light yakisoba sauce, and is clearly jet black in color.
Below is the noodles mixed with the sauce so that they do not mix. The left is yakisoba sauce and the right is squid ink sauce.
I tried the yakisoba sauce part. It has the usual Peyoung yakisoba taste, and the aroma of the sauce is distinctive.
Next, I tried the squid ink sauce. It was saltier than the yakisoba sauce, and the aroma was a little spicy and a little addictive. It has a completely different texture from yakisoba, so you can eat the yakisoba sauce and the squid ink sauce alternately to keep from getting bored. When I mixed the two sauces together, the aroma and flavor of the squid ink sauce was quite strong, so it felt like the squid ink sauce had overwritten the rest of the meal. The 'super large' portion was twice as much as a regular large portion, so it was extremely voluminous, and some people might not be able to finish it.
Peyoung Super Large Yakisoba Half & Half Squid Ink will be available for pre-sale at convenience stores from May 6, 2024, and will be available for general sale from May 13, 2024.
