Meta announced in a blog post on April 23, 2024 that it will add a new design, 'Skyler,' to its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Skyler features a cat-eye frame with slightly raised eyebrows, and is designed to suit users with smaller faces compared to the previously available 'Wayfarer' and 'Headliner.'
It was also announced that the ability to make hands-free video calls on WhatsApp and Messenger will be gradually rolled out to Ray-Ban Meta. In fact, Instagram's fashion director, Eve Chen, made a video call on Ray-Ban Meta and had a conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, which can be seen in the Instagram Reels below.

Zuckerberg received a notification on his smartphone screen that Chen had called him via video call.
When I answered the phone, Eve appeared wearing Ray-Ban Meta.
Eve did not have a smartphone, so he used the built-in camera of Ray-Ban Meta to make a video call. By making a video call using Ray-Ban Meta, you can share the scenery and information you are seeing with the other person. If you look in the mirror like Eve, you can ask for opinions on the chain hanging from your neck.
Because the camera is built into the sunglasses, it's important to note that the screen will shake significantly if you turn your face sideways or move your head a little. The Ray-Ban Meta's video calling feature is being rolled out gradually, so it may take some time before the feature is available, Meta explains.
In addition, it was announced that the beta version of the AI assistant 'Meta AI,' which began early access in December 2023, will be rolled out to all users in the United States and Canada.

Meta AI can identify clothes, answer questions about fashion, and translate words written in foreign languages. Victoria Song, a reporter for The Verge who had early access to Meta AI, pointed out that when you ask Meta AI something, it sometimes gets the right answer, and sometimes it confidently asserts that it's wrong.
Meta also said in a blog post, 'While this is an exciting update, the technology is still in its early stages, so there will be times when Meta AI doesn't work for you. As we get more feedback from users using Meta AI on their smart glasses and continue to innovate on the architecture of new models, we expect performance to improve over time. In other words, it can only get better from here.'
Skyler preorders are available in 15 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and European countries, but Ray-Ban Meta, including other designs, cannot be purchased in Japan.
