In an interview, Fernandez said, ``We had to deliver 25,000 frames over 20 months (1 year and 8 months). Those 25,000 frames were equivalent to a 10-second scene, so it was quite a challenge. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it because director Miyazaki was there. You know he's not only a master of life, but a master of professional life, and working with him was amazing. It was a really great and unique experience.'
Fernandez also said, ``I met director Miyazaki in person three times,'' ``When director Miyazaki praised his work, he affectionately called him a ``Colombian'''' and ``Studio Ghibli praised his work.'' He also shares anecdotes such as ``He sent me a letter and a gift.'' Mr. Fernandez's claim that he was a super animator at Studio Ghibli was reported with surprise in Colombia, and many people believed him.
Furthermore, when ``How Do You Live?'' won the Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 81st Golden Globe Awards, which was announced on January 7, 2024, Fernandez suddenly gained attention. In fact, a lecture by Mr. Fernandez was held at Sergio Arboleda University in Colombia. It was also featured extensively in the local newspaper El Heraldo, with the copy reading ``Barranquilla's Golden Globe-winning talent.''
However, local anime fans found that what Mr. Fernandez was saying was so absurd that they immediately suspected that he was lying. In fact, evidence of this was the absence of Ms. Fernandez's name in the film's promotional materials and credits.
Anime-related news site Cartoon Brew contacted GKIDS, which distributes ``Kimi tachi How Ikiru'' in the U.S., and they said, ``We have an official credit list for Studio Ghibli, but Mr. Fernandez's name is not ``Kimi tachi ka Iki ka ka.'' It doesn't appear anywhere in the credits of the movie.''
Additionally, Fernandez was accused of plagiarizing the work of others in his profession of graphic design. It turned out that most of Mr. Fernandez's works were plagiarized from works uploaded to the Internet community Deviantart or campaigns conducted by Colombian advertising agencies.
As more and more people in Colombia look at Mr. Fernandez with skepticism, Mr. Fernandez was interviewed by Caith_Sith, a Spanish broadcaster and game journalist, on January 15, 2024.

'' and claimed that he intended to have Studio Ghibli present proof of his involvement in the film.
Also, when asked about plagiarism in the graphic design industry in an interview, Fernandez said, ``All my work is original.'' However, he later recanted and admitted that 'one of the images was not made by me.'
El Heraldo said: ``Ms. Fernández's story turned out to be false. El Heraldo believed Ms. Fernández's claims in good faith in an attempt to shed light on Barranquilla and Caribbean artists, but the results... That was a lie. We apologize to our readers for publishing information about this graphic designer who misled the media.'
Fernandez appeared on a radio program broadcast on January 16th and said, ``I admit that I over-exaggerated the episode, but it is true that I participated in the production of ``How Do You Live?'''' ``The entire movie 'But I'm involved in some scenes. They're part of 25,000 frames, and I didn't draw all 25,000 frames.'
However, on January 18, 2024, Fernandez appeared on a radio show again and said, ``I said that I participated in 'How Do You Live?'' out of an immature act. 'I realized I couldn't back down. When I saw all the media, I felt great fear,' he said, admitting that he had lied.
