Yoshiharu Hanyu, 9-dan, president of the Japan Shogi Federation, said, ``I feel it is a great honor to be able to carry out the 100th anniversary project together with Hanshin Koshien Stadium.We are preparing for the commemorative match to be a project that many people can enjoy. I would like to continue to do so,' he said with enthusiasm.
His opponent was Sota Fujii, a Ryuo Meijin (8 crowns), who holds all eight major titles, and Hanyu, 9-dan, said, ``Fujii-san is a player who has a very deep understanding and can win in the shortest and cleanest way. I think we have some things in common, but we also have different personalities.I hope that you will enjoy the game while also feeling the differences in our styles, Fujii-san and myself.''
Furthermore, as part of Hanshin Koshien Stadium's 100th anniversary project, decorations are being carried out on the outer periphery, battle signboards, and station plaza gate.
