In addition, unless otherwise mentioned, the shooting examples below are taken in the camera mode of the genuine camera app, and the brightness and color temperature are not set. You can see a larger image by clicking the thumbnail image, but in order to reduce the amount of data transfer, it is reduced using the lanczos3 algorithm with a long side of 1400 and an image quality of 90%.
I took a picture of iCEO with the rear camera. Like a normal smartphone, it is taken while it is folded and held vertically.
I took a picture while holding it sideways.
And I opened the screen of Pixel Fold and shot iCEO from the same distance. Impression that the distance of the subject is closer when shooting in the open state.
Take a selfie with the front camera
The inner camera can be used in an open state.
In addition, if the screen is angled and opened horizontally, the camera UI will change as shown in the image below. It can be easily placed on a desk, so you can take selfies and make video calls without a smartphone stand.
This time I took it outside and took some pictures.
I photographed the Hankyu Department Store building. The zoom factor is 0.6x.
Same zoom ratio
2x zoom factor
5x zoom ratio
Looking up at LUCUA Osaka, a commercial building in front of Osaka Station.
With the same composition, shooting with iPhone 14 Pro Max looks like this. You can see that the iPhone 14 Pro has more vibrant and brighter colors. However, it may be the Pixel Fold that was closer to the actual color.
Photographed the clock and ceiling of Toki no Hiroba at Osaka Station with Pixel Fold.
The same shot taken with iPhone 14 Pro Max.
I tried shooting with Pixel Fold with a composition that stirs up a bronze statue.
This is a photo taken with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The impression that the picture taken with Pixel Fold suppresses the light reflected by the statue and clearly shows the original color of the statue.
I took a picture of an artificial flower that was nearby. In the photo taken with Pixel Fold, the flowers in the background of the large flowers are blurred.
The impression that the iPhone 14 Pro Max has no blur and is processed brighter overall.
Houseplants taken with Pixel Fold. The contrast between dark green and yellow green in the leaves is clear. The black band at the bottom of the photo is the shadow of the lighting device.
On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a relatively sharp difference in light and dark, and the green looks a little darker than the Pixel Fold.
With Pixel Fold and iPhone 14 Pro Max, I shot a 4K 30fps movie of a water clock near Osaka Station. I got the impression that the movie shot with Pixel Fold (first half) was a little brighter than the movie shot with iPhone 14 Pro Max (second half).
I took a picture of the food served on the plate. Overall, photos taken with the Pixel Fold often have a solid background blur. The color is soft, and the image is slightly warmer than the photo taken with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The same dish taken with iPhone 14 Pro Max. The whole dish is in focus, but the impression is that the outline is slightly sharp.
I took a picture of an owl monument in a dark place with Pixel Fold.
Photos taken with the iPhone 14 Pro Max are generally brighter than those taken with the Pixel Fold.
This time I took a picture at night. Umeda Doyama-cho intersection taken with Pixel Fold.
I took a picture of the Kamo River from Sanjo Ohashi Bridge in Kyoto with Pixel Fold, switching the camera to long exposure mode.
This time I tried shooting with Pixel Fold's night view mode. The night view mode emphasizes the lights in the dark, so the reflection of the light on the river surface and the clouds in the sky is emphasized, resulting in a bright photo overall. However, it may be the long exposure mode that the darkness is close to the scenery actually seen in the night.
The bridge of Sanjo Ohashi was taken from the riverbed with Pixel Fold's long exposure mode.
Taken in Pixel Fold's night view mode. In the long-exposure mode, the upper half, which was completely dark and was not shown, is visible.
Below is a picture of a nearby location guidance stone monument in Pixel Fold's long exposure mode. It's night, so it's natural that it's dark, but the light from the metal plate reflecting the city lights and the light from the LCD monitor reflecting off the river surface are clearly visible.
Taken with Pixel Fold's night view mode. It became quite bright, so I could clearly see the bottom of the waterway flowing behind me and the ground that was in the shadow.
Shooting with iPhone 14 Pro Max looks like this.
A corner of Kyoto / Pontocho was shot with Pixel Fold.
When you shoot the same place with iPhone 14 Pro Max, it looks like this, and the light coming in from the front and back is emphasized, resulting in a fairly bright photo overall.
Next time, we plan to check around the Pixel Fold's battery.
Google Pixel Fold is accepting reservations at the time of article creation, and the price is 253,000 yen including tax.
