According to the news site CNBC, ByteDance has not found a supplier that meets its requirements, so it is considering designing its own custom chip. The use of the chip is described as processing workloads related to multiple businesses of ByteDance, such as video platforms and information & entertainment apps.

ByteDance's 31 job listings cover the entire chip design cycle, requiring back-end chip design engineers to have advanced chip manufacturing experience in 12nm and 7nm processes. In addition, we are also looking for experts such as electronic design automation tools and experienced arm-based digital IP core design.

In addition, it seems that there are no plans to manufacture chips for sale to other companies, only designing chips for their own use.

ByteDance is also on the news site South China Moring Post, as the Chinese government plans to reduce its reliance on foreign technology, and 'China Big Tech' such as Alibaba, Tencent, and Xiaomi are pouring resources into chip development. He points out that it is a movement.
