Volvo said on the 10th, 'We found that one of our file repositories was illegally accessed by a third party. Investigations so far have confirmed that a small portion of our R & D data has been stolen. We do not believe this will affect the security of our customers' cars or personal data. ' The company adds that it is working with a third party to investigate the damage.
Volvo has not disclosed the actual situation of the damage, but an attacker named 'Snatch' posted a screenshot of a document file attributed to Volvo on the Internet, claiming that he 'attacked Volvo' doing. Snatch did not seek negotiations with Volvo and said it would leak a 35.9MB document file if Volvo was unable to respond intelligently and comprehensively to the leak.
When Bleeping Computer, an IT news site, asked Volvo about the damage, he said, 'I don't comment on any speculation about potential cybersecurity attacks we've received, but we take all threats to asset theft seriously. Cybersecurity is an integral part of our global development work and operations and is a top priority. We actively participate in and contribute to our international commitment to standardization and best practices in the cybersecurity industry. We will apply the accepted recommendations. '
