'Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V' is a robot anime directed by Tadao Nagahama, following 'Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V'. The three works, including the later 'Tōshō Daimos', are sometimes referred to as the 'Nagahama Roman Robo Series'. The part where the five machines combine to become a giant robot is the same as in the previous work 'Combattler V', but this work is based on the concept of a 'father and son epic drama' and is structured in a way that does not end with one episode, depicting the battle between the Boazan Empire, an aristocratic society where horns determine superiority, and the giant robot Voltes V, created by Go Kentaro who escaped Boazan and fled to Earth in preparation for the coming invasion.

This series was so popular that it reached a peak audience rating of 58% when it was broadcast in the Philippines in 1978. Reruns from 1999 also reached a peak audience rating of 40%, sparking a revival boom. It is no exaggeration to say that this series is better known in the Philippines than in Japan.

According to GMA Network, which released the trailer, the live-action remake will be produced in the Philippines with the permission and supervision of Toei.
