How did the occupation distribution of human being changed by the appearance of machines?

Due to the changing times, the popularity of workers and the demand of society will change drastically. Especially, it is said that human beings were deprived of labor by technology advances and machines. From the 1850s to the 2010s, four types of graphs are available that allow you to see how much and how much jobs have decreased in the US in 10 years.

What is shown is a graph showing the trend of ratio distribution of occupations roughly. People engaged in Farming (agriculture) have been decreasing over 150 years. On the other hand, it is the white job that is a general job that is growing a large proportion. The proportion of blue collar to service industry has not changed much.

The following is the chart of the total number, not proportion. Agriculture seemed to be constantly decreasing from 1870 to 1970 in terms of percentage, but the image of agricultural work population fell at a stretch from around the 1940's. Also, you can see that the population engaged in the service industry is increasing little by little.

As the title "Technology gave and technology robbed", various occupations are driven away as new technology emerges, and demand is rising. Workers who work at the factory will peak at the peak between 1960 and 1970, and will eventually be declining. In addition to the end of special demand with the conclusion of the Vietnam War, in the 1970s it seems that the fact that industrial robots were introduced to the factory is affecting.

Mechanical engineering declines after reaching the peak in around 1920, dropping to almost the same rate as in 150 years ago in 2013. From 1910 to 20, Ford introduced a belt conveyor type mass production system to the factory, enabling efficient factory production with fewer personnel. Therefore, it is thought that the demand for mechanical engineers gradually declined gradually.

Coal mining workers will drastically decline from the second half of 1910. It is believed that by gradually spreading gasoline engine cars in the same period, it gradually shifted from coal to oil even in the United States.

What is even more interesting is the trend of mechanic / repairmen. It has increased dramatically from around 1910 and slowly declined after it peaked in the 1960s. By introducing the machine to the factory, the demand for the occupation repairing it has increased sharply.

Meanwhile, most of the service industry and professionals tend to increase, and it can be said that it is a profession which is "the winner of the times". For example, fire fighters and police officers have been increasing rapidly since 1850.

The proportion of people who work for actors, artists, musicians, and designers has been increasing for a long time, but the momentum of the increase is increasing since the Vietnam War ended in the 1970s.

Professor 's job tends to increase rapidly since the second half of the 20th century.

However, occupations such as doctors and lawyers who can not afford to acquire qualifications at the university were not so large as compared with other occupations.

Meanwhile, the manufacturing work has been greatly influenced by factory production by machines from hand production by craftsmen. Carpenter has been decreasing almost from the second half of the 19th century.

"Iron Tekku" and blacksmiths making horseshoe to be attached to the hoof of horses have been decreasing since 1850, and in the 1980s it was almost disappearing.
