Construction that can be said to be a power technique to lift and move 1700 tons old buildings with each person inside is done in Mexico over 60 years ago

GuadalajaraIs the second largest city in Mexico next to the capital city of Mexico City and is also famous as a tourist attraction reminiscent of the Spanish colonial era. It is about 70 years ago that Guadalajara advanced modernization at a rapid pace, but in the construction, an amazing method of "lifting up a building that can not be torn down by all means lifting it up and moving it" was taken.

Shops close together near the center of GuadalajaraA corner where Dona Gera Street and Fares Street meetIs the largest telecom operator in MexicoTelmexThere are old buildings in the building.

In 1950, the City Council of Guadalajara decided to expand Fales street running in front of this building as part of the modernization of the city. In order to expand the road, the building had to be removed, the shops that had eaves along the road withdrew and the building was torn down soon.

However, it turned out that it takes a huge budget to demolish the Tel-Mex communication building that also faces JALLES street. Furthermore, if the functions of the communication building are stopped due to the removal work, the telephone service of Guadalajara will be interrupted for more than a week, the communication infrastructure will be disconnected and cause great confusion, so Telmex's communication The building could not be demolished. In the image below, the building that protrudes to the road is a communication building.

Architectural scientist at the University of Guadalajara, also involved in road extension workJorge MaturelemusSomewhat proposes the idea of "Lifting and moving the entire building together with the staff performing the operator's operation while connecting the telephone line" in order to proceed with the road expansion work while maintaining the telephone service.

In response to the plan that can be said to be a power skill to lift and transport old buildings as many as 1,700 tons, some of the workers involved in the construction have also raised concerns. In order to get their consent, Mr. Remus's wife decides to go with the daughter into the moving communication building.

There was the behavior of Remus's wife, and the plan of Remus was put into execution. The communication building was lifted by the jack from the base and slowly moved over the rail of about 12 meters spread to the planned place over 5 days. The following image shows pictures of the buildings shot every day shot, and you can see how the building gradually retracts from the road.

Without hindering telephone service, the building movement work was completed successfully. As the building was carefully moved slowly, people inside it rarely realized that the building was moving. It seems that the budget spent on the movement of the building has fallen within only 17% of the time when building is disassembled and rebuilt.

Pleasing this feat, beside the entrance of the telecommunications building which has been built almost 70 years ago, there is a bronze statue of Mr. Remus who is pushing hard on the walls of the building.

You can also see how Remus' bronze statue pushes the building on Google Street View.
