The 100-year light bulb is installed at the 6th Fire Station in Livermore, California, USA.

This is a 100 year light bulb. It was created by Adolphe Chariet, who is known as a rival of inventor Thomas Edison. Carbon was used for the filament, and the light bulb was eight times thicker than the common ones at the time.

This 100-year light bulb was installed in the fire station in Horse Cart House in 1901, survived the renovation in 1937, and came to Fire Station No. 6 in 1976. It was removed for a total of about one week, and has continued to be lit for about 115 years, making it recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest continuously lit light bulb.

Many scientists have tried to find out why the 100-year light bulb has been able to stay lit for so long. Various reasons have been cited, such as because it uses a filament made of carbon material that is 8 times thicker, because it is designed for 60W but only produces 4W worth of light, because the power is constantly on, etc., but the definitive reason is It still remains a mystery. It is not clear how long the lights will continue to be lit in the future.

The 100 Year Bulb now has a live view camera installed.
