Oimyakon is located about 900 kilometers away from major cities. The nearest airport will be closed throughout the winter and it is quite difficult to visit. Even when Ms. Chaple visited, it took two days from the airport by car, and it seems that it was accompanied with a lot of hardship.

The first thing that surprised me when Chaple arrived at the village is the harsh environment of minus 58 ° C. Under such circumstances, dirt may freeze in the room and you need to go to the toilet installed outside to add the waste. It is the toilet which was reflected in Oimyakon in the image below.


In order to prevent the car from freezing, when not in use it is to park on a garage with a higher temperature than outside. Also, because it will freeze in cold environments, it seems to keep moving the car whenever you are outside.


Because grains and vegetables do not grow in this cold environment, many people are eating meat diet eating habits. The cold weather attacks not only people but also equipment. Mr. Chaple's camera froze and broke in a few days from the start of his stay. In order to prevent the camera from breaking again, Chaple said he was shooting with his jacket on his camera.

In cold environments, the breath exhaling from the mouth may turn white, but when exhaling in this village it seems that the breath has swirled like a cigar smoke. As long as you see Chaple 's picture, it looks like a normal white breath, but it looks like a cold to see.
