Reed Hoffmann's "The Three Secrets of a Great Successful Graduate"

This is an entrepreneur and investor Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman seems to hear recently that students around the world are worried about future careers.

Career concerns common among students are ... ...

Mr. Hoffman noticed that the student is not ready enough for society.

It is disappearing from modern society that walking a stable career.

Graduates maybe feel uneasy.

However, I want you to know that it feels okay if you feel uneasy.

Anxiety about the future will never disappear.

In the changing world, to get a career is as long a process as life.

Since I graduated from university, I have been able to see the patterns of "success" and "failure" up to now.

And I knew three things about my career that success people noticed later.

Today, I'd like to share these three things with my graduates.

The first one"Competition (Competition)"

"There are many things I'm interested in, but how can I connect it to work?"

"What if I do not know what I like, sir?"

"How do you choose one from the many things you want to do?"

These frequently asked questions from long ago ... ...

It's wrong.

All of the three questions I mentioned above are questions for "myself"

It is not a question directed to "other people" which is the most important element.

All attractive things are with competition.

In order to win the competition, it is necessary to nurture 'COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE' (competitive advantage).

"Competitive Advantage" is asset, aspiration, market actuality are three.

An asset means the knowledge and money you have, the connection with people, and so on.

The aspiration refers to a place that you may aim for in the future.

The last market practice is what people pay for yourself.

The best career is to grab valuable aspirations while manipulating market realities and get them using assets.

The second secret of a highly successful graduate is "Networks(network)"

If you go to society, you have to learn to positively create human relationships.

Chances are not like floating in the sky like clouds,

It sticks to people.

If you are looking for a chance, the thing you are looking for is a person.

The fastest way to change yourself is to be with the people you want to do.

The best way to meet new people is to meet through friends you already know.

The third secret of a successful graduate is "Risk (risk)".

Education now is a system in which punishment is given to students who made a mistake.

In the real world, until I try it I do not know what is the best way.

To make a mistake is part of learning.

Do you want to know whether marketing or product development is better for you than your current job?

If you have a marketing or product development department at the company you work for now, try asking them to help those departments with no compensation.

I carried out exactly the same thing at "Apple" who worked only after graduating.

Under any circumstances, act first without planning.

Acting can help you to know where you want to go and how to get to that place.

The student with the best score at the university is a student who did not make the first mistake.

However, people who have succeeded in society the most, learn to commit "intelligent risk (intellectual risk)".

Are you assuming that carrier stability can be obtained by minimizing risk?

Ironically, in the ever-changing world, it is one of the most risky things to act safely.

For example, that you should not leave work that you learn quite a lot with little reward.

Prioritize opportunities to learn about yourself and the world.

You must not quit saying that hearing that work is dangerous.

Even if the work called danger is the worst result, most cases can survive.

If the expected worst result is to get fired, to lose a little time or money, or to feel uncomfortable, you should do risks and work.

If the worst result of a dangerous job severely damages your reputation, you lose all the money you possess, if your career is over, you should not risk a risk.

It makes an intellectual risk and sees the opportunity that others are missing.

Graduation does not end learning.

Every day in the world of work is an exam.

If you are not going forward, you are going backwards.

Grow a competitive advantage.

Build a network of human relations.

And commit an intellectual risk.

When will you not do it now?
