Available on iPhone and Android smartphones, a site that can search one by one for scheduled blackouts of TEPCO and Tohoku Electric Power

A site "Planned Blackout Group GPS Search" that informs information on areas targeted for planned blackouts using iPhone or Android smartphone GPS and tells the schedule of power outage at the current location is open now.

Because it refers to the target area data of TEPCO and Tohoku Electric Power, it has become possible to use it in a wide area although there is a condition called smartphone user.

I tried using the service on iPhone from below.Planned blackout group GPS search

The top page looks something like this. I am browsing from iPhone 4, but it is optimized for easy viewing.

It is written that TEPCO's planned blackout target area and Tohoku Electric Power's both can be searched. As of March 16 (Wednesday) 15:20, 2011 which is writing this article, it was set so that the data of the day of the 16th can be retrieved.

When clicking the "Search by GPS" button in the center, a popup asking if you can use the current location information is displayed and click "OK".

The place I used was not covered by the power failure, so this screen was displayed. Since it can be determined that it is outside the area, GPS seems to be functioning properly.

This site is a SIM-free Android tablet "Light TabAccording to the user's review that I tried with ", it seems that it seems that it worked correctly on this terminal equipped with Android 2.2, so tablet users are also worth a try.

Also available on Light Tab! WEB application that can confirm grouping of planned blackouts based on GPS location information: susi-paku website

Several sites that respond to TEPCO's planned blackouts are released, but there are not a lot of Tohoku Electric's planned blackouts also responding, so it will be useful for people in the area concerned.
