CameraJet is an electric toothbrush equipped with a 100,000-pixel macro lens camera and AI machine learning algorithms. It captures and analyzes 28 images per second in real time while brushing your teeth, identifying gaps between teeth in real time and performing a jet wash in less than 0.1 seconds.
Dyson's proprietary machine learning algorithm, 'Gap Optical Targeting,' was trained using 470,000 dental images collected during its development, and is said to be able to accurately target spaces between teeth.
It also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing users to check their oral cavity while viewing live video feeds via an app. The app reportedly allows users to check for missed spots while brushing and view brushing guides. Dyson explains that the captured images are not saved to the app or uploaded to the cloud, and that neither Dyson nor any third party will have access to them.
Dyson explains that the device offers two modes: brushing only and brushing with an auto-jet function, which helps to make mouthwash a habit. 'Flossing is a tedious and time-consuming task. We know we should do it, but very few people actually do it. For decades, oral care habits have relied on multiple separate steps: brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. However, very few people actually perform the twice-daily routine recommended by dentists,' Dyson said.
Fill the jet wash tank (12.5ml capacity) with mouthwash, apply toothpaste, select a mode, and turn on the power to start using it. For accurate detection, it is recommended to use SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)-free gel-type or non-foaming/low-foaming toothpaste or mouthwash. With a battery capacity that allows for 10 days of operation on a single full charge, assuming two uses per day (brushing only + brushing and auto-jet mode), a travel case is also included for use on the go.
Dyson has paid close attention to the angle of the brush head and jet wash, designing them to be gentle on teeth and prevent missed spots. Dyson is also working on developing toothpaste and mouthwash that won't interfere with camera use.
CameraJet is also sold in Japan. The price on the official website is 79,800 yen, and it is available on Amazon.co.jp for 79,801 yen.
