AYANEO has released 'Konkr Pocket Advance,' an Android-powered gaming device that resembles the Game Boy Advance.

AYANEO, a developer of handheld gaming consoles, has released a new handheld gaming console, the ' Konkr Pocket Advance ,' which looks exactly like a Game Boy Advance. It uses Android 12, released in 2021, as its operating system and is equipped with a USB Type-C port and Wi-Fi functionality.

This is what the Konkr Pocket Advance looks like. The left side of the screen has a directional pad and a start/select button. On the right side are the ABXY buttons, a button labeled 'K', and a button labeled '='. The 'K' button accesses quick settings, and the '=' button returns to the home screen. AYANEO described it as 'a remake of a classic design, recreating beloved retro icons.'

By the way, this is what the Game Boy Advance looks like.

The Konkr Pocket Advance has large L1/R1 buttons on the top that extend to the sides, and L2/R2 buttons inside of them. Further inside is a white button, which is the power button. The round button opposite the power button can be freely assigned a function. Below the L2/R2 buttons are the LC/RC buttons, which provide access to system navigation.

On the bottom, from left to right, are the microSD card slot, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and volume wheel.

Here are the details of the bottom and top surfaces.

The 3.5-inch display uses an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The aspect ratio is 3:2 and the resolution is 960 x 640.

The dimensions are 151.3mm x 82.4mm x 22mm. The weight is 224g.

The processor is a MediaTek Helio G90T. It has a 4000mAh battery and supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. RAM is 3GB/4GB, and storage is 32GB/64GB. It also has a motor for vibration.

The OS is Android 12. You can use various Android apps and play games using Android emulators. The price is $89 (approximately 14,000 yen) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model and $109 (approximately 17,000 yen) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model, and it is already on sale.

According to the reviewer , 'The D-pad/ABXY buttons have no clicky feel, are very soft and pad-like, and require almost no force to press. The Start/Select/K/= buttons are made of silicone. The display is decent, not amazing, but average for this price range. The brightness is sufficient for outdoor use. The volume wheel is good, but it's too sensitive, and you often accidentally change the volume with your little finger. It recommends the emulator right after booting up, so all the necessary apps are ready to go just by pressing the download button. For someone stepping into the world of Android emulation for the first time, this is a truly excellent device.'

However, it seems that even PlayStation 2 games can put a heavy load on the device, so they added, 'We believe this device should be used with games like those for PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, and Sega's Game Gear.'
