Alex Norström, co-CEO of Spotify, said, 'Solving the challenges of the music industry is Spotify's mission, and next we're focusing on fan-made covers and remixes. What we're building is based on the consent, credit, and compensation of the participating artists and songwriters. With each technological innovation, we've worked with Sir Lucian and his team at UMG to evolve the music ecosystem. The result is a rich and rewarding experience for fans and rewarding results for artists and songwriters.'
Furthermore, Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of UMG, stated, 'The most valuable innovations in the music industry have always been those that bring artists and fans closer together. This pioneering AI-powered 'SuperFan Initiative' is centered on that principle, aiming to support human artistry, deepen the bond with fans, and create new revenue opportunities for artists and songwriters.'
He then expressed confidence, stating, 'This initiative, built on our long track record of leading the industry through technological transformation and our collaboration with Alex and the Spotify team, puts artists first, is rooted in responsible AI, and will drive growth across the entire ecosystem.'
No information has been released regarding the specific timing of the tool's release or its pricing. It is also unclear whether it will apply to all UMG artists or only some of them.
