Asha Sharma, CEO of Microsoft's gaming division, Xbox, conducted a survey among users to find out whether the eponymous gaming brand should be spelled 'Xbox' or 'XBOX.' While the Xbox logo is spelled in all capital letters as 'XBOX,' official X accounts and YouTube accounts use 'Xbox,' resulting in differing opinions among users on which spelling is correct.

A total of 19,176 votes were cast in this survey, with a voting rate of 35.2% for 'Xbox' and 64.8% for 'XBOX'.

Following these results, Xbox's official X account changed its name from 'Xbox' to 'XBOX,' and the account name was also changed from @Xbox to @XBOX .

However, as of the time of writing, the names of Xbox's official YouTube , Threads , and Bluesky accounts remain unchanged from 'Xbox.'

When technology media outlet The Verge contacted Microsoft about the Xbox name change, the company reportedly directed them to refer to a post by CEO Sharma.

Since the original Xbox, Microsoft has consistently used the capital letter 'XBOX' in the logo of all its game consoles.

This name change comes just weeks after CEO Sharma discontinued Microsoft Gaming and reverted the name of Microsoft's gaming division back to Xbox.
