A taste test review of 'Hawaiian Thunder,' a snack that evokes the tropics with its sweet coconut aroma and roasted macadamia nuts.

Yuraku Confectionery's 'Black Thunder' series will be releasing ' Hawaiian Thunder ' on May 19th, 2026 (Tuesday). It features the rich flavor of roasted macadamia nuts, layered with the richness of 'Double Coconut,' which uses coconut powder and coconut paste generously, resulting in a soft sweetness and refreshing taste reminiscent of the tropics. I had the opportunity to try it a little early, so I checked out the taste.

Hawaiian Thunder outer box

The individual packaging looks like this.

The ingredients include semi-chocolate, wheat flour, processed oils and fats, macadamia nuts, sugar, shortening, coconut, whole wheat flour, vegetable oil, dairy products, almonds, coconut paste, whey powder, glucose, salt, cornstarch, etc.

Each bottle contains 120 kcal.

I took out the contents.

I placed Hawaiian Thunder (left) and regular Black Thunder (right) side by side for comparison. Hawaiian Thunder is slightly smaller, and its surface is smoother than the regular Black Thunder.

I cut into it and tried it. I could taste the sweet aroma of coconut, the roasted aroma of macadamia nuts, and the crunchy texture of the biscuit along with the sweetness of the chocolate. Compared to the regular Black Thunder, the coconut aroma was more pronounced, which made the sweetness seem more emphasized.

Hawaiian Thunder will be available from May 19th, 2026 (Tuesday) at convenience stores, supermarkets, drugstores, and other retailers nationwide. The suggested retail price is 64 yen per can.
