A power strip with USB ports that can be fixed to a desk is convenient.

Many people likely use power strips on their desks to ensure they have enough outlets to use multiple devices such as PCs and smartphones simultaneously. However, conventional power strips have problems such as 'the cord itself getting in the way' and 'having to use both hands to prevent the power strip from lifting when plugging or unplugging cords.' Sanwa Supply released a clamp-type power strip on January 16, 2026, which not only allows you to fix the power strip to the edge of your desk but also provides USB ports that can supply up to 65W of power. It seemed convenient, so I borrowed a unit and tried it out.

Sanwa Supply Co., Ltd. releases a clamp-on power strip that attaches to a desk and allows for easy one-handed plugging and unplugging, supporting up to 65W of USB PD power.

This is what the packaging for the clamp-on power strip looks like. It comes in two colors, black and white, and this time I'll be using the black one.

The package contained the main unit and an instruction manual.

This clamp secures the power strip to the edge of the desk. The knob can be tightened by hand. Additionally, a pad is attached to the bottom of the power strip to prevent scratching the desk.

The clamp also has a pad.

The installation process was completed in less than a minute.

The finish is so natural, it looks like the power strip was included from the start.

On the front side, there are three USB Type-C ports and two power outlets.

There are also two electrical outlets on the back.

Because it can be securely fixed, it won't wobble even if you plug and unplug the power cord with one hand.

The USB port output is a maximum of 65W for the USB Type-C port and a maximum of 18W for the USB Type-A port.

When using multiple USB ports, the maximum output changes depending on the combination. The maximum output for each combination is as follows: When using two USB Type-C ports, if you use port C1 and port C2, both will have a maximum output of 12W, but if you use port C1 and port C3, port C1 will have a maximum output of 45W.

Remembering the USB port combinations can be a hassle, but the convenience of not having to take out the charger is a big plus.

The standard price for the clamp-type tap is 14,300 yen (tax included), but both the black and white versions are available on Amazon.co.jp for 10,300 yen (tax included).
