In October 2025, Ring announced a number of new products and tools, including 'Familiar Faces,' which uses AI to identify friends and family, 'Fire Watch,' which alerts users to fires, and 'Search Party,' a tool for finding lost dogs.

Search Party is a feature that utilizes a service called 'Neighbors,' which allows neighbors to share information with each other. When a member of Neighbors shares information about a lost dog using the Ring app, nearby Ring cameras and doorbells installed outdoors connect to each other and use AI to search for lost dogs that match the information.
404 Media has obtained an internal email sent to all employees by Ring CEO Jamie Siminoff in early October, in which Siminoff stated that Search Party was initially introduced to help locate lost dogs, but would be expanded to 'eliminate crime in neighborhoods.'
'This is the most innovative thing we've launched in Ring's history,' Siminoff wrote in an email. 'The foundation we've built with Search Party, which started with dogs and is ultimately designed to be one of the most important technologies and innovations we believe will truly realize our mission. Now, we envision a future where we can eliminate crime in our communities. We have a lot of work to do to get there, but for the first time, we have a chance to fully complete what we started.'
While it's unclear exactly how Search Party will be expanded, Siminoff's email suggests that Ring products will be used to scan and share information about things other than dogs. 404 Media notes that after Siminoff, Ring's founder, returned to Ring in 2025, he began focusing on Ring's potential role in law enforcement.
In the past, Ring has faced controversy over providing video footage to law enforcement agencies without user permission or a warrant. In October 2025, the company announced a partnership with Flock Safety, a provider of crime prevention solutions. Flock Safety offers license plate tracking systems and has recently been reported to be allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) access to its surveillance cameras, sparking strong public outcry over the partnership. As a result, Ring has ended its partnership with Flock Safety.

404 Media also reported that Siminoff's email to all Ring employees mentioned the possibility of Ring being used in the investigation of the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September 2025. In an email sent the day after Kirk's murder, Siminoff wrote, 'Yesterday was a very sad day. Sad, indeed, in many ways.'
Ring already offers a service called ' Community Request ,' which allows law enforcement agencies to send public requests for assistance to Ring users and, if the user allows it, share related videos. 'Community Request is a foundational part of our mission to make our communities safer,' Siminoff wrote in an email. 'We're excited to see how public agencies use this tool and see the impact it has on their communities.'
404 Media's report also sparked discussion on Reddit, where one user pointed out that Ring, which started out as a simple doorbell, has now become infrastructure for mass surveillance, noting that many Ring owners are unaware that their doorbells are 'part of a private surveillance network that could be eavesdropped on by the government.'
