Apple will reportedly release Gemini-based Siri in iOS 26.4 and later

Apple released the English version of its personal AI, 'Apple Intelligence,' in October 2024 and the Japanese version in April 2025. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a reporter familiar with Apple-related leaks, reported that a source familiar with the matter said, 'Apple had planned to include new features in iOS 26.4, due in March, but is now moving forward with a plan to spread the new features across future versions. This means that at least some features may be delayed until iOS 26.5, due in May, or iOS 27, due in September.'

According to Garman, the next-generation Siri sometimes fails to process user queries correctly or has long delays in response, suggesting that it is not performing as reliably as expected.

One feature that is likely to be delayed in the next-generation Siri is 'expanding Siri's ability to access personal information.' If this is realized, you'll be able to instruct Siri to do things like search past text messages to find podcasts shared by friends and play them immediately.

The release of 'Siri voice control of in-app actions' has also reportedly been delayed, although both 'Siri's expanded access to personal information' and 'Siri voice control of in-app actions' are expected to be available in iOS 26.
