'QR codes that can read multiple URLs' appear on the Internet

QR codes can only store one piece of data. However, a QR code that can read different URLs depending on the angle has been posted on the Internet and is causing a stir.

Below is the QR code created by Guy Dupont . Hold your smartphone camera over it to read the URL of Faux News .

When you change the angle, the appearance of the QR code changes, and you can now read

the AP News URL.

It can also read the URL for

the New York Times .

The QR code that Dupont created is a combination of multiple QR codes, which are then covered with

a lenticular lens to change their appearance depending on the angle. To create this QR code, Dupont created a special script.

After Dupont's post went viral, Christian Walter created a QR code that can read multiple URLs without using a lenticular lens.

If you hold your smartphone camera over the URL created by Walter, the Mastodon URL will be displayed.

Furthermore, when you move the camera over the same QR code, the GitHub URL is displayed.

You can also see how two URLs can be read from the same QR code in the video below.

According to Walter, each pixel of the QR code is divided in half, with different URLs displayed on the right and left sides. In other words, if the QR code reader first recognizes the right pixel, it reads the URL based on the information on the right side of each pixel, and if it first recognizes the left pixel, it reads the URL based on the information on the left side of each pixel.
