Viewing the posted image, the AI's caption reads, 'Imagine yourself reflecting your life in an infinite maze of mirrors.' Users told 404 Media that they had previously uploaded their own selfies to Instagram's 'Imagine' feature, Meta's AI image generation feature.
The user said, 'I have no particular reason to create fake news. I just posted a screenshot in another thread.' When 404 Media asked Meta for confirmation, Meta responded, 'These images are real, but they are not advertisements.' According to Meta, these images are from the 'Imagine Yourself' feature, which has been in testing since September 2024, and uses AI to generate photos of yourself from multiple selfies.
