Apple Intelligence now takes up almost twice as much storage as it did when it was released
It has been revealed that Apple's AI feature 'Apple Intelligence,' which was first introduced in iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, is taking up nearly twice as much storage as it did immediately after the initial release due to the introduction of new functions.

Apple Intelligence Now Takes Up Nearly Twice as Much Storage as It Did at Launch
Apple Intelligence is being rolled out to compatible iPhones, iPads, and Macs, and several new features are being introduced in stages, including 'Genmoji' for creating custom emojis, 'Visual Intelligence' for displaying descriptions of surrounding places and objects, and integration of Siri and ChatGPT.
When the first batch of Apple Intelligence features was released in iOS 18.1, Apple announced various requirements for using them, one of which was '4GB of storage capacity.' However, according to news media 9to5mac, as Apple Intelligence's features increase, the amount of storage space required also increases, and the capacity has ballooned to 7GB.
Most of Apple Intelligence's features run on the device without connecting to the Internet for privacy reasons, so it needs to download the AI models it needs. This AI model is the cause of the increase in storage space, and 9to5mac reports that 'it takes up the same 7GB whether you're using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.'
Unfortunately, if you don't have enough storage space, it's not possible to reduce the required capacity by disabling certain features.
According to 9to5mac, major changes will be made to Siri in iOS 18.4, scheduled for release in April 2025. 9to5mac reported that 'it's not hard to imagine that the 7GB requirement will increase further due to the Siri upgrade.'
