Epic Games is about to take a leap forward in its efforts to deliver games to players on mobile devices. Fortnite will soon be back for iOS devices in the EU, and Epic Games' own game store, the Epic Games Store, will appear as a third-party game app store for Android and iOS (EU only). When third-party game developers distribute apps on the Epic Games Store, a 12% commission is required on sales, but this is a commission on payments processed by Epic Games, and Epic Games does not make any profit from it.

In addition, Epic Games announced that it plans to offer its titles, including Fortnite, on third-party mobile app stores that charge developers a fair fee. In conjunction with the announcement of this new strategy, Epic Games has announced that it will distribute Fortnite on the third-party app store AltStore. As a result, it also announced that it will end its partnerships with mobile stores that collect a portion of sales as a usage fee from developers, and will stop distributing Epic Games titles.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney also announced a new strategy for bringing Epic Games games to mobile stores, including the upcoming Epic Games Store for mobile, as well as third-party app stores like AltStore, which offer a fair deal for all developers.

In response to this, AltStore's X account posted, 'Fortnite is officially coming to AltStore PAL . Stay tuned for more details coming soon.'

In addition, Sweeney said, 'Unfortunately, Fortnite and other games will be removed from the Samsung Galaxy Store in protest of Samsung's new policy to block sideloading . This change prevents users from installing competing stores, an issue we fought and won in the U.S. antitrust lawsuit Epic Games v. Google.' In protest of Samsung's policy banning sideloading, the company announced that it would remove Epic Games' games from the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Regarding Epic Games' new strategy in mobile apps, 'We have long advocated for our right to compete fairly with app stores on iOS and Android. And that right is spreading around the world in the form of the European Digital Market Act (DMA), similar laws in the UK and Japan, regulatory investigations around the world, and the victory in the Epic Games v. Google antitrust lawsuit in the US. As the operator of the Epic Games Store, we will take this opportunity to give all developers a great deal on the app store. And as game developers ourselves, we want to do all we can to support other app stores that are striving to give all developers their own great deal. As good news, we are pleased to announce that our mobile games will be available on the AltStore on iOS in the EU. We also plan to announce support for at least two other third-party app stores soon.'
