The ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop announced by Lenovo at MWC 2024 is a concept model of a notebook PC equipped with a 17.3-inch MicroLED transparent screen and a touch-sensitive keyboard.

The display is up to 55% transparent, allowing you to see what's on the screen from behind.

The blacker the display, the higher the transparency, and the whiter the display, the more opaque it becomes. Peak brightness is 1000nits and resolution is 720p.

A camera is installed on the back, which can be combined with AI to identify objects behind the display and display related information.

Lenovo explained that its intended use would be in an architectural scene where an architect designs an extension while looking at an actual house.

The keyboard is a projection type and has a futuristic feel, but it is said that it is not very easy to use. The Verge, an IT news site that actually touched it, reported, ``As you can imagine, typing is frustrating. I made countless typos while trying to write simple test sentences.'' .

It also functions as a drawing tablet, and the keyboard disappears when you bring the stylus close to it. It feels good to use as a drawing tablet, and The Verge said it makes more sense than using it as a keyboard.

At the same time, Lenovo also announced the next generation machines of the ThinkPad T series, ``ThinkPad T14 Gen 5,'' ``ThinkPad T14s Gen 5,'' and ``ThinkPad T16 Gen 3.'' In addition to using Intel Core Ultra as the processor, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 also has the option of AMD Ryzen 8040.

The biggest feature of the ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 is that they are designed to be easier to repair than ever before. Specifically, the battery is a connector type that does not require cables, and the RAM, SSD, and wireless WAN (WWAN) are also socket-based ``

Customer Replaceable Units (CRU) .''

Lenovo also announced two new notebook PCs. One of them is 'ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2', the next generation of the ThinkPad X12 detachable tablet series.

And the other one is 'Lenovo ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 4'.

All Intel-configured ThinkPads are expected to be available in stores after April 2024, with prices starting at $1,199 (approximately 180,000 yen).
