Mr. Ryan is scheduled to retire in March 2024, and in order to support the management transition, Mr. Totoki, President, COO, and CFO of the Sony Group, will temporarily assume Mr. Ryan's duties at the Sony Group. This will be taken over. Mr. Totoki will assume the position of SIE Chairman in October 2023, and after Mr. Ryan retires, he will assume the position of SIE's interim CEO on April 1, 2024.

Regarding his decision, Ryan said, ``After nearly 30 years with SIE, I have decided to retire from SIE in March 2024. I am working at this very special company, doing work that I love, and working with excellent colleagues.'' While I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with our team and our wonderful partners, it has also become difficult to balance living in Europe and working in the United States. I feel very honored to have been able to work on a product that moves people. PlayStation will continue to be an important part of my life, and I am confident that SIE will have an even brighter future than ever before. I am grateful to Mr. Yoshida for trusting me and being a leader who spares no consideration and support.''

Mr. Ryan began his career at Sony's European subsidiary in 1994 and held several executive positions, including head of global sales and marketing, before becoming president and CEO of SIE in 2019.

Mr. Ryan oversees PlayStation 5 (PS5) as CEO of SIE, and even in the unpredictable market of the new coronavirus pandemic, PS5 achieved record sales and operating profit during the platform transition period.
