To put it simply, we have teamed up with an illustrator who draws cute, nostalgic, retro, and cute illustrations, and we are serializing 4 frames for SNS distribution. ……from?

Enami:
There is. This is what I planned, albeit presumptively. Normally, a company called Comics Wave Films is a company that produces works directed by Makoto Shinkai and releases them to the world. There are a lot of very creative people among our employees, and many of them are planning their own works and wanting to put them out into the world, so Mr. Kawaguchi, the representative, gives the employees a lot of chances. In the midst of this, I planned a four-panel manga called 'Kamigyo to Iro', and Mr. Kawaguchi set up a meeting and proposed that I want to do it.

This is amazing, isn't it? While we were busy with 'Suzume no Toshimari', we had put out a proposal and moved without knowing it.

Enami:
Certainly, the production of 'Suzume no Toshimari' was running all the time. For now, I'm thinking that I'd like to do it when 'Suzume no Tojirimari' has settled down.

Were you originally interested in SNS comics?

Enami:
I agree. However, when asked, 'Why did you want to do SNS comics?'

Enami:
The best thing is that I myself often look at Instagram and Twitter. I don't think that kind of medium was originally created to serialize manga. However, the usage has diversified, and manga serialization on SNS has become the norm.
Under such circumstances, there was a major premise that I also wanted to try it.

Enami:
Since I can only say 'I want to do it', I received a lot of cooperation from various people, including these two.

The reason why I decided to use the theme of 'Come to Tokyo' is because I know that I have to do a digital detox before going to bed, but I still end up watching Twitter and manga in bed. I am a group that came to Tokyo in 2018.

Where were you from?

Enami:
Fukuoka. So, when I was watching SNS late at night, there was a moment when I felt very nostalgic for my hometown. ``Why did you come to Tokyo?'', ``I used to be more excited about everything that happened in Tokyo,'' or ``It's natural for me to live in Tokyo now.'' be attacked by So, I thought I'd like to see stories about someone I didn't know about coming to Tokyo, what they did, what they got, and how they left for Tokyo. When I saw the title, I thought it would be great if I could immediately understand what kind of story it was. When I decided on the title, I got the company involved, and just told various people the title ``Kamigyo to Iro'' and asked them ``What do you imagine when you hear this word?''.

I may have been in the early stages. I was asked something like 'Are you a group that went to Tokyo?' I'm from Tokyo, so I don't think the feeling of 'moving to Tokyo' is weak. I think that's why I left (laughs)

Enami:
Mochi isn't part of the Kamigyo group either.

That's right.

Enami:
Now that I have explained the title, I would like to talk about the content. In 'Kamigyo to Iro', I drew the story of four men and women who came to Tokyo. Minami-chan is an 18-year-old girl who came from the countryside of Chiba to Harajuku, saying, 'I want to live in Harajuku,' and is going to school to become a fashion designer.




Enami:
28-year-old Tomoya is a serious love affair boy. I'm from Kochi Prefecture, and I was about to get married, but my girlfriend's affair was discovered, and I moved to Tokyo.




Enami:
Atsuko is a character who looks a little like me, and is an around 30 Korean idol otaku. I've been an otaku since I was little, and I moved to Tokyo early to enjoy my life as an idol otaku.

Also, when I was handing out flyers at Machi★Asobi, a few people told me that the visuals were good, Shin-kun with pink hair. I'm a lovable idiot who can't study, but I have good motor nerves and a cool face, so I was told that I could become an actor, so I moved to Tokyo.

Where did Shin-kun come to Tokyo from?

Enami:
I'm from Sapporo. Why did these four people come to Tokyo, what did they gain, what did they lose, and what did they choose in the end? Illustrated comics that can be read during lunch break or before going to bed at night. That's why I made it in the form of 4 frames.

What kind of process is going on with this, such as screenwriting and drawing?

Enami:
First of all, I proceeded with the script part. When I ask for a script, I usually don't know what the process is, but this time I put out a theme in a competition format and asked them to write a short story for it. Thankfully, three people participated, and among them, I decided to ask Mr. Nishioka to Neil . She is a scriptwriter who has a little relationship with Comics Wave Film, and is a female scriptwriter who usually writes scripts for dramas.

Enami:
In terms of what to do with the script and the characters, he said that the four of them were normal people, not that they had amazing life experiences or had a special upbringing. Since it's a story about how to spend your time in Tokyo, I thought that if it wasn't someone who had a life experience that everyone could relate to, I wouldn't be able to get everyone's sympathy. With that in mind, I talked with Mr. Nishioka that I wanted a character who lived a really simple life and had something in common with everyone.

Feather fields:
Sounds good. There is no deviation from reality, or rather, the feeling that it is not too exciting is certainly easy to get into. I think I like it very much.

Enami:
Next is the story of drawing, but the theme is 'Kyoto', and my sentimental thoughts are the basis of the project, so it's nostalgic, sentimental, nostalgic ... and various generations It was absolutely essential for me to have someone who could draw a new retro-like pattern that is popular now so that people can sympathize with it. In fact, there was an illustrator who could draw that kind of pattern, and I had been following him for a long time, and that was

Kayoubi-san . A person who draws cute characters that remind me of the 80's and 90's, but also looks modern. So, Mr. Tuesday is an illustrator living in Fukuoka, so I went to Fukuoka and talked with him several times.

Enami:
I agree. I remember making a kind of presentation material asking, 'Why do you want Kayoubi-san to do this?' I went to Fukuoka on a day trip.

Since you're from Fukuoka, I thought you'd come for one night.

Enami:
I don't know if this is the right process, but I've taken a lot of advice from a lot of people and I've done it recklessly. Can I go off the rails for a moment? Actually, Minami-chan has changed a lot since the proposal stage.

Minami-chan, when I first saw your proposal, I thought you were really cute with black hair and a neat and clean look. I thought, ``This kind of girl came to Tokyo and wanted to become a fashion designer.'' After a while, she said she was going to make an advertisement, so when I looked, Minami-chan was gone. I said. Quite a few other characters have changed as well.

Enami:
Minami-chan has orange hair and looks like she's making her college debut, but she used to be a black-haired, childish character. When I was talking to Nishioka-san, Kayoubi-san, and the people who helped me with the production, they said, ``An 18-year-old from the countryside wants to make his debut, so he definitely dyes his hair.''

On top of having a background that encompasses all of that, this work has a solid start, turn, and conclusion in four frames, and it's cute and laughable, which is really nice. I'm also from Tokyo, so I've heard about 'going to Tokyo', but it's also an admiration. Perhaps, if I go abroad, there may be. 'Kamigyo Toiro' has a realistic feel that comes in smoothly. Also, Kayoubi-san's New Retro-like designs have become popular recently, but in the 80's and 90's, anime was hand-drawn, and that's because it's done entirely by hand. Our company is on good terms overall, and we communicate with each other, so there is cooperation between departments, but it's quite difficult to grasp in detail who is doing what kind of work.
