'Not By AI Badges' project to badge content created by humans instead of AI

The evolution of generative AI, which learns from data and creates new content, is progressing rapidly, and

it is said that by 2025, 90% of online content will be generated by AI. In the midst of this, with the aim of resisting the mass production of content by AI, an initiative has been launched to display honorary badges on works created by humans.

Generative AI takes in sentences and pictures made by humans, performs machine learning, and creates content based on it. Therefore, if humans are satisfied with AI content and do not create new works, a cycle of ``AI that learns the content output by AI reproduces the content'' occurs, and online content is repetitive. It is feared that the development of culture will stagnate if it becomes too much.

In response to these concerns, a project called 'Not By AI' was started. On the official website , the image of 'Not By AI Badge', which can be posted only on those whose content is more than 90% made by hand, is distributed in EPS format and SVG format and can be downloaded freely.

There are 3 types of badges. The first is the 'Painted By Human Not By AI badge' for anything with less than 10% AI output, whether it's digital art or traditional painting.

The second is the Written By Human Not By AI badge, which is used for text-based content such as blogs, essays, research, and letters.

The third is 'Produced By Human Not By AI' used for audio works (music, vocals, sound effects, commentary narration, etc.) and video (movies, videos, clips for SNS such as YouTube, etc.).

Specific examples of use include the bottom of a website, blog post headlines, illustration corners, album covers, resumes and business cards.

Any changes, such as rewriting the description or design, coloring, adding effects, etc., are not permitted. Also, the size should be at least 42 pixels high on a 1x resolution screen and 84 pixels high on a 2x screen to be easily recognizable, and should not be obscured. increase.

However, since this badge has no legal effect, the presence of the badge does not guarantee that it is human-made. As such, the project is seeking legal experts to explore ways to formally regulate AI content with this badge.

Regarding the significance of the badge, the project said, ``Badging will make it easier to recognize a human-first approach, which will raise awareness and encourage more individuals to create new content. As a species, we can continue to collectively contribute to online content and prevent online content from being replaced by AI-generated or recycled content.'
