A fierce man who built a system that allows you to summon and duel monsters drawn on cards like the Duel Disc of 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' appears.

``Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Duel Monsters'' is a Japanese trading card game based on the fictional card game ``Magic & Wizards'' that appears in the popular manga ``Yu-Gi-Oh!'' by Kazuki Takahashi. French YouTuber SuperZouloux is building a system similar to the 'Duel Disk' that appears in the manga, which summons Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Duel Monsters cards into the real world in 3D.

Mr. SuperZouloux has a childhood dream that, just like in the manga 'Yu-Gi-Oh!', if you take out a card and shout 'Come on, Blue-Eyes White Dragon!', the monster drawn on the card will become reality. In order to realize the sight of being summoned, he excitedly says, ``I've been working on a secret project for over seven months!''

SuperZouloux has developed the Yu-Gi-Oh! Connected Mat. When the streamer SuperZouloux performs a duel on a video stream, he displays a 3D model of the monster on the stream screen, making it look as if the characters in a manga fight while wearing duel disks. It allows you to enjoy dueling.

When you actually put a card into play...

Successfully summoned the blue-eyed white dragon. SuperZouloux is happy with this with a big smile on his face.

Monsters that appear on the field show detailed movements as if they were alive.

It is also possible to summon multiple monsters at the same time.

'Yu-Gi-Oh! Connected Mat' is a video distribution system, so it correctly recognizes the cards you put into play and displays card information in the upper right corner of the screen.

Furthermore, if you summon a monster...

The camera will automatically switch from an overhead angle to an angle closer to the monster's line of sight. In other words, you can automatically switch the camera angle so that you can easily see what kind of monster has been summoned.

Furthermore, by pressing the button on

the Stream Deck placed at hand...

It is also possible to perform monster attack actions. Naturally, the camera angle of the stream will automatically switch at this timing as well.

SuperZouloux, who worked on developing the Yu-Gi-Oh! Connected Mat with such a wide range of functions, apparently did not have the necessary technical skills or knowledge to begin with. Therefore, he says that he developed the Yu-Gi-Oh! Connected Mat while referring to friends and YouTube videos of people building similar systems. 'There were days when I worked more than 10 hours a day,' SuperZouloux said.

The most difficult task was building a system to summon 3D models of monsters using Unreal Engine. Although the details of the system are not disclosed, a glimpse of SuperZouloux working on crafting and programming is released.

This is what the Yu-Gi-Oh Connected Mat looks like. The Stream Deck in your hand is built into the mat, and you can perform monster attack actions by pressing the button.

You can see that a large amount of wiring is extending like this on the back side.

Also, when you take the card out of the sleeve...

You can see that there is a chip for reading cards on the back side. Using this chip, the system determines which cards have been put into play.

SuperZouloux said, ``It was a really difficult job because we had to put chips on over 3,600 cards,'' and revealed that he had many friends help him with the work.

Furthermore, the Yu-Gi-Oh Connected Mat also supports playing cards face down. For example, if you want to use the trap card 'Magic Tube'...

First, you need to put a card face down on the field. At this time, the system does not display which card was played on the screen.

However, when you activate a trap card and turn it face up, the system will correctly display the cards in play on the broadcast screen.

In addition, the Yu-Gi-Oh Connected Mat created by SuperZouloux allows you to enjoy battles with 30 different decks.
