Until now, iOS had a function to indicate the remaining battery level as a percentage on the left side of the battery icon in the upper right of the screen.
However, since the iPhone X that appeared in 2017 has a notch (notch) at the top of the display, if you pack essential elements such as the battery icon and antenna icon, there will be no space to display the remaining battery level as a percentage. This notation has been removed because it no longer exists.
So, since 2017, you've had to open Control Center to accurately see your iPhone's battery level.
However, in iOS 16, which is scheduled to appear in the fall of 2022, the remaining battery percentage display function will be restored. The percentage notation is displayed in the battery icon, but if this numerical notation does not exist, open 'Battery' in the 'Settings' application and enable 'Battery percentage' OK.
Note that the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini do not display the battery percentage option, so this feature cannot be used at the time of writing.
Also the battery percentage option seems to be missing on iPhone 11, 12 mini and 13 mini. I assume on XR as well. Maybe lack of space is the excuse but who knows

The foreign media The Verge pointed out that 'the percentage notation of the new battery also has functional problems.' Specifically, in order to visually indicate the remaining battery level, the battery icon used to represent the remaining capacity by creating a blank space in the battery icon. However, by notating the remaining battery power as a percentage, the blank space that indicated the increase or decrease of the battery has disappeared, and the battery icon is always filled in. Therefore, The Verge says, ``Even if the iPhone has only 10% battery remaining, the icon itself looks full. There is,' he pointed out.
Therefore, The Verge says, 'Probably turning off the battery percentage notation function.'
In addition, the new features added in iOS 16 Beta 5 are as follows.
◆ Lock screen audio visualizer
A new audio visualizer has been added to the media player on the lock screen. Audio Visualizer is a feature that allows you to display animations based on the music that is playing.
◆ New splash screen
iOS 16 Beta 5 adds new splash screens to Find My and Photos apps. Newly added features such as support for the AirPods 'Search' function and 'Photos Shared Library' will be emphasized.
