Mr. Nishimura (real name: Kihachiro Yajima) was born in 1930 in Tokyo Prefecture at that time. I dropped out of the Prefectural Electrical and Industrial School and entered the Tokyo Army Children's School, but returned to the Industrial School because the war ended while I was still in school. After graduating, I got a job at the Extraordinary Personnel Committee (later the National Personnel Authority). The pseudonym Kyotaro Nishimura is a combination of the surname of a friend from the National Personnel Authority and the name meaning 'the eldest son from Tokyo.'

After retiring from the National Personnel Authority and changing jobs, he won the All-Reading Detective Novel New Face Award in 1963 for 'Yuganda Asa'.

The following year, in 1964, he made his feature-length debut with 'Four Ends'.

Received the 11th Edogawa Rampo Prize for 'The Heart of the Incident' in 1965. The work was renamed and published as 'Angel's Scars'.

The 'Sleep Express Murder Case' published in 1978 became a bestseller.

After that, although the publishers only requested travel mysteries, Mr. Nishimura himself was also interested in period drama novels, and from 1975 to 1976, the Tokushima Shimbun published 'Ashu Taiheiki Hana.' 'Token' (later renamed to 'Mumeiken, Run') is serialized.

He has a huge number of books, and when he was interviewed in 2017, he said, 'If possible, I would like to write 634 meters of Tokyo Skytree up to 635 books, which exceeds one by one. It's a joke. ' If you refer to the list of books in the fan site ' Kyotaro Nishimura Study Group ' and the list of books in ' Kamekichi no Home Page ' and ' Kyotaro Nishimura's Room ', you will find 635 books published in 2021. It seems certain that it is exceeded.

The number of dramas of the work is also considerable, and the 'Kyotaro Nishimura Travel Mystery' series, in which Police Department Totsugawa and Detective Kamei challenge the case, continues while changing casts.
