Implemented an option for Apple to transfer iCloud photos to Google Photos

Photos taken with iPhone or iPad can be saved in the main unit storage or in

iCloud , Apple's cloud storage service. However, if iCloud storage is free, you can only use up to 5GB. So Apple announced that it has added an option to transfer copies of photos and movies stored in iCloud to another service, Google Photos.

According to Apple, if you enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, sign in to Apple's Data and Privacy with your Apple ID, and select Transfer a copy of your data, you're logged in to Google. It will be possible to transfer photos to Google Photos linked to the account.

The file formats that can be transferred are JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, MPG, MOD, MMV, TOD, WMV, ASF, AVI, DIVX, MOV, M4V, 3GP, 3G2, MP4, M2T, M2TS, MTS, MKV. You can also transfer the RAW file of the part. Photos will be transferred with the album as much as possible, but movies will be transferred individually regardless of the album.

Transferring to Google Photos is a mechanism that transfers a copy of the content, so the originals stored in iCloud will not be lost. Also, for edited photos, only the latest edited version is transferred, not the original version.

According to Apple, the photo transfer process can take 3-7 days, as you need to make sure that the transfer request was made by you.

The transfer service to Google Photos was provided in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, EU, Iceland, Lichtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland at the time of writing the article, and the schedule for providing the service in Japan is unknown.

Please note that there is a limit to the storage available for Google Photos, and of course you cannot transfer beyond this limit. It has been announced that the free storage of Google Photos will be limited to 15GB after June 2021.
