I compared each model with the 'Apple Watch SE' that you can get for about 30,000 yen

The affordable low-priced model '

Apple Watch SE ' has finally appeared, but I compared the specific points that are different from other models based on the official Apple model comparison page. It is positioned as a low-priced model similar to the iPhone SE, but when you actually compare it, you can see that it is a more profitable model than the price.

As of September 2020, Apple has three Apple Watches on its official website: Series 6, SE, and Series 3. Prices start at 42,800 yen for the Series 6, starting at 29,800 yen for the SE, and 19,800 yen for the Series 3. You can see what the Apple Watch SE looks like by reading the photo review below.

◆ Compare with Series 6
The difference between Series 6 and SE is that Series 6 is equipped with a retina display that constantly displays, a blood oxygen wellness sensor, and an electric heart rate (ECG) sensor, and the heart is the largest than SE's S5 SiP (System in Package). It uses S6 SiP, which is 20% faster, has a U1 chip that SE does not have, and Wi-Fi is compatible with the 5GHz band. And the biggest difference is that the Series 6 can measure blood oxygen wellness. On the other hand, the electrocardiogram application that uses the electric heart rate sensor cannot be used in Japan at the time of writing the article, so the presence or absence of the ECG sensor should not be the decisive factor in choosing Series 6 for Japanese users.

Series 6 is the only Apple Watch with a U1 chip. This U1 chip is a space recognition chip that uses ultra-wideband technology and was first adopted in iPhone 11. When the U1 chip first appeared, it was even described by experts as 'the U1 chip is the biggest announcement at the iPhone 11 presentation.'

The coordinate measurement accuracy of the 'U1 chip' mounted on the iPhone 11 is attracting attention as it has an ultra-high performance of 'a few centimeters of error' --GIGAZINE

Always-on Retina display has been introduced in Series 5, and in Series 5 and Series 6, it is possible to turn on / off the always-on display from the settings. If you actually turn on the always-on display function , the dial will be displayed on the screen even when you are not looking at the display of the Apple Watch, but it is not at all when it is said that it is an indispensable function. , It seems that you don't have to worry so much except for those who want the dial to always be displayed like a clock.

When you actually use the constant display function on Series 5, it looks like this. The left is the dial that is normally displayed, and the right is the 'dial that is designed to reduce the power consumption that is displayed when the wrist is lowered,' which is not displayed when the display is always off. If you want to use this function, you can choose Series 6 over SE.

◆ Compare with Series 3
There are many differences between the cheapest Series 3 and SE of the current model. The SE case size is 44mm or 40mm in the first place, but the Series 3 case size is 42mm or 38mm. The left is the SE 40mm case, and the right is the Series 3 42mm case. The case size is only 2mm different, but the SE 40mm case feels much more compact.

The SE has a body case that is 11% thinner than the Series 3.

The resolution is 368 x 448 pixels for 44 mm of SE and 324 x 394 pixels for 40 mm, and 312 x 390 pixels for 42 mm of Series 3 and 272 x 340 pixels for 38 mm case. The photo below shows the SE 40mm case on the left and the Series 3 42mm case on the right. The case size of Series 3 is larger, but the 40mm case has higher resolution and the bezel is narrower, so you can see that the display area extends to every corner of the main unit.

In addition, the SE has a built-in compass, so you can check the direction at any time from the app.

SE also supports constant measurement altimeter. Not only can you check the altitude information from the compass app ...

It can also be added as a complication to the dial. The altitude information is written as '11m' at the bottom center of the dial below.

Other SE features not found in Series 3 include

LTPO OLED Retina display, 2nd generation speaker & microphone, fall detection function , noise monitoring function , overseas emergency call, and family sharing settings. In addition, there is 'pressure sensitive touch' as a function that Series 3 does not have in SE.

◆ Comparison with Series 4 and Series 5
It turns out that the CPUs of the Series 4 S4 SiP and the Series 5 S5 SiP are the same , so there is no difference in performance. Therefore, it seems that the SE that uses the same S5 SiP as the Series 5 has no difference in performance from the Series 4. The difference between the SE and Series 5 is that the Series 5 is equipped with a constant display, pressure-sensitive touch-compatible display, and barometric altimeter, while the SE is equipped with a constant measurement altimeter. The difference between SE and Series 4 is that SE is equipped with a compass and a constant measurement altimeter, while Series 4 is equipped with a pressure-sensitive touch-compatible display and barometric altimeter. In other words, since the SE has almost the same specifications as the Series 4 and Series 5, the reason why these users are forced to switch to the SE seems to be close to zero.
