The Nature Index , an organization that conducts various research on scientific research, announced the number of people who published chemistry papers in magazines by 2018. The Nature Index is a paper published in 82 journals in 2018.It surveys nationalities and organizations to which it belongs and organizes it by country. I calculated. For example, if four researchers from different countries publish papers under joint names, the contribution is calculated as 0.25.

As a result of the survey, the graph below summarizes the top 10 countries. China, the first place, increased by 17.9% from 2017 and achieved an overwhelming total contribution.



On the other hand, the United States, which has been monopolizing the first place so far, fell 6.2% from 2017 and fell to second place. Among the top 10 countries that contributed to the thesis, all but 1st China and 10th Spain declined compared to 2017.

The 4th place Japan has not changed its ranking, but the contribution itself decreased by 12.6% year-on-year. The fifth-ranked UK also had a 10.8% decrease in contribution from the previous year.

In addition to chemistry, China has made tremendous progress in the field of materials science, and the Nature Index has announced that it has recorded the third largest contribution after Korea and Singapore, surpassing the United States.
