A movie that uncovers the secret of what exactly is 'vodka made from sheep'

Distillers and

vodka, which are loved in Russia and Northern Europe, are mainly made from grains such as potatoes and wheat. However, in Australia, which is located across the equator from the Eurasian Continent, 'a vodka made from sheep' is being produced. YouTube's Great Big Story has released a movie approaching a mysterious vodka that sets it apart from common vodka.

Making Vodka From Sheep-YouTube

Vodka is a liquor produced in Russia, neighboring countries, Northern Europe, etc.

Vodka is mainly produced from grains such as potatoes and wheat, but it may also be produced from fruits such as grapes if it is a little unusual.

However, some are made from more specialized ingredients. The source of the raw material is ...

It is a sheep.

That rare vodka is made at Birches Bay in Tasmania, Australia.

Dairy farmer Ryan Hartshorn splits the Hartshorn Distillery in Birches Bay.

Mr. Hartshorn, who ran a sheep farm around the family for 16 years and produced cheese made from sheep's milk, had some troubles.

During the cheese making process,

whey is produced, which is the remaining water content of milk fat and proteins from milk.

'Before, there was no use for whey, so there was no choice but to dump it into sewage,' says Hartshorn. Hertzhorn's trouble was that the mass of whey that was generated each day was wasted.

So, focusing on the fact that whey contains lactose, Hartshorn thinks about alcohol fermentation of whey.

In theory, alcohol fermentation itself is possible if it contains sugar, but the path was never flat. After over 100 trials and errors, Hartshorn finally succeeds in producing vodka from whey.

The first step in producing vodka from whey is 'milking.' Machine milked sheep's milk is sent to the cheese manufacturing process, leaving whey.

Next, add the enzyme to the collected whey and let it 'alcohol ferment'.

After alcohol fermentation proceeds, let them 'distill' to make spirits.

Then, it is completion of vodka when 'aging' for about 4 months.

Once the vodka is complete, it will be packaged in a handmade bottle and shipped. The whole process of milking and shipping as vodka takes about five months.

Hertzhorn's commitment was acknowledged, and the Sheephorn Vodka at the Hartshorn Distillery received the

World Vodka Award 2018 Gold Award .

Vodka made from whey is characterized by a sweet smell and creamy origin from milk.

How to drink is the same as normal vodka, but it is recommended that you drink without locking.

A man who drank a bit said, 'It is a very smooth taste.'

'delicious'

'It is a good distilled spirit that tastes very beautiful.'

Mr. Hartshorn has received worldwide recognition for vodka made from whey, but this time he is trying to make

gin .
