The 80% tweets on Twitter come from users with the top 10% of tweets

Twitter's tweets with various opinions may seem as if they represent the voice of the general public. However, research shows that 80% of tweets are actually from 10% of active users.

At the Pew Research Center, which conducts public opinion surveys and demographic surveys, it is fine to link account information and the results of the survey whether the opinion of the 'general citizen' in the United States matches the voice of Twitter. The survey was conducted with the cooperation of 2791 Twitter users.

The surveyed users tended to be 'younger,' 'more educated,' and 'more paid' than adults in the United States.
Twitter users are younger, more highly educated and wealthier than general public

Also, the percentage of Democrats was higher than that of adults as a whole.
Twitter users more likely to identify as Democrats than Republicans

Regarding the tendency of the opinion to be sent out, there are differences in that we regard immigration as 'a thing that strengthens the country' and that there is an inequality based on race and gender in the society, but there are other points. Then, it seems that there was not much difference with the opinion of all American adults.

However, regarding the number of tweets, there are considerable differences among users, with 80% of the tweets being particularly by the top 10% active users, and 90% of the remaining users are 20%.
A large majority of tweets come from a small minority of tweeters

The median number of tweets is that the top 10% of users were 138 per month, while the number of lower users was 2 per month.
The Twitter users who tweet frequent engage much more than most users

This is the result of the survey in the United States. It is a place where I wonder if it is a Japanese user who tweets as many as dropping a server in 'Akomeito Yoroka' or 'Balus' .
