Open source font family 'B612' pursuing 'readability' in cockpit that can be used for free


" B612 " is an open source font family packed with what is required for aircraft fonts. Importance is attached to the readability in the cockpit of the aircraft and it is designed so that letters can be read securely even on low- and medium-resolution screens.

◆ What is B612?
In 2010, Airbus aircraft manufacturer cooperated with ENAC and University of Toulouse and started research to define and verify a font for aircraft. The research subject seems to be to improve the readability of letters and to optimize the uniformity of characters in the cockpit.

The result of research collaborated by Airbus · ENAC · Toulouse College was to be reproduced by Intactile DESIGN of the design office in the form of font. Intactile DESIGN creates 8 font variations that satisfy the condition as a font for aircraft and defines them as one font family. "B612" of the font family thus created is a French writer and a name from the imaginary planet B 612 that appears in the " Little Prince " that is a masterpiece of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who also worked as a pilot It will be attached.

"B612" is designed to be able to read characters properly even if it is displayed on low / medium resolution screen, taking into consideration that it is displayed in the cockpit. "B612" of the font family is composed of two kinds of fonts B612 and B612 Mono, and normal, italic, bold, and bold italic bodies are prepared, respectively.

Click the folder called "TTF" in the folder.



Since TTF data for installing eight fonts belonging to the B612 font family is stored in it, you can use it on the PC by right-clicking what you want to install and selecting "Install".
