A chair "Voxel Chair" that designed the material strength and softness with a 3D printer appeared

VoxelBy designing with a 3D printer on the base, we stick to the strength and softness of the material "Voxel Chair"Was designed. Voxel Chair has been able to design more functional furniture by adjusting the density of the structure by the filament, whereas the furniture made by 3D printers has often been able to design only the superficial part .

This is Voxel Chair. It turns out that the output of filaments is not uniform, and it is different in the outer and central parts.

The back is like this.

Looking closer, this way. Some filaments are juxtaposed in the parallel direction, and there are parts that are randomly output at first glance.

The appearance of actually outputting chairs with 3D printers can be seen from the following.

The design of the object to be created is like this. It is a little difficult to understand on the modeling screen, but it is chair.

It is in a state where it fell sideways.

Normally, when designing an object with a 3D printer, we first model the object expressed by mesh on software, slice it in layer like another software, and output based on the layer. However, the process of Voxel Chair is the reverse, first design a series of toolpath patterns, then combine them to decide how to build the object.

This method not only has the merit in terms of performance, but also allows the designer to design even finer parts. In other words, it is possible to output high density parts where you want to increase the strength, or to design parts that touch the user's body softly.

At the beginning of the work it is a thin layer.

The solid is gradually being built up.

This is the completion drawing.
